BMW G 310 R
About G 310 R
BMW Motorrad unveiled the G310R just a few days before the EICMA 2015. This is the first motorcycle that has been developed under BMW-TVS alliance, which was formed two years ago.
BMW wanted their new small capacity motorcycle to have a design that will go with their entire product portfolio. And for the same reason, the G310R has design elements from the S1000RR and the R1200R. At first look, the G310R doesn’t look very attractive but the design grows on you.
Talking about its mechanicals, the G310R is powered by a 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine churns out 34bhp at 9500rpm and has a peak torque of 28Nm at 7500rpm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The German manufacturer claims a top speed of 145kmph and fuel efficiency of 36.05kmpl. However, the real world figures will be different from the claimed ones.
When it comes to features, BMW has loaded the G310R with a 41mm upside-down fork at the front and monoshock with adjustable preload at the rear. Two-channel ABS comes as standard with this bike. The braking power on the bike is taken care of by a 300mm single-disc with radially bolted four-piston caliper at the front and a 240mm two-piston caliper at the rear. The bike has a kerb weight of 158kgs, which is quite good for a bike in this segment. The bike rides on 110/70 R17 tyres in the front and 150/60 R17 at the rear. With a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres, the bike can be ridden for approximately 330kms before stopping at a fuel station.
BMW Motorrad hasn’t mentioned about the exact global launch date of the G310R, but we are expecting it to happen at the beginning of 2016. The G310R will be manufactured by TVS at their Hosur facility and will be exported worldwide. The bike will also be launched in India, once the German manufacturer sets up operations. We are expecting the BMW G310R to be priced between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2.4 lakh.
