Royal Enfield unveils Interceptor, Continental GT 650
Royal Enfield has finally unveiled the much awaited Interceptor GT 650 and Continental GT 650, at the ongoing EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy.
Both bikes share the same engine and frame. However, the Interceptor looks more of an old-school roadster (left) while the Continental GT 650 (right) is a full-blown café racer.

New twin-engine
Both the motorcycles are powered by a new 650 cc parallel twin engine that revs up 47 Bhp and 52 Nm of torque. The 270 degree firing order in the crank produces a unique sound and a counter shaft is added to reduce vibrations. The air-oil cooled engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox, with a slip-assist clutch.
To be launched next year
The bikes would be first introduced in Europe followed by other locations in 2018. "We expect to launch in some markets starting April next year and then through the year across various global other global geographies," Royal Enfield CEO Siddhartha Lal said.
Lots of accessories
Royal Enfield developed the accessories for the motorcycles along the the new engine and motorcycles. Optional accessories include low clip-on handlebars for the Continental GT 650, a flyscreen, engine and sump guards etc.
To dominate the mid weight segment
The bikes are in last stage of production. Royal Enfield aims to lead and expand the mid weight (250 cc -750 cc) motorcycle segment globally and Lal hopes these two new bikes would help grow this segment.
